Domain log in

I have just been dumped into a job that is a bit above my experiance so please forgive any obvious questions I may ask. I am trying to set up a new laptop for a win2003 server. I mapped the networks that I need. But it requires a password each time. The same for sending and recieving emails through outlook that is on a 2003 windows exchange(each time send/recieved is clicked).

What I want to do is replace the normal XP log in with that system where you have to use ctrl+alt+del and then supply a username, password and the domain so the networks are supplied with the passwords automatically at this stage. How do I do this?

There is a "Manage Passwords" section obtained via typing Control Userpasswords2 in the Start Run box. In the resulting window you will get to it via the Advanced tab.

See if there is anything mentioned in "Manage Passwords"?

Or, if you mean the saved passwords in Internet Explorer, go to Tools\ Internet Options\ Content \ Autocomplete Settings, and have a look around there.

Sounds like you just want to join the domain. The domain Administrator can do this for you.

The OP wants to "Change the Way users Log in" From the Welcome screen to the Network Login Prompt.

Go to control Panel, User Accounts, Click on "Change the Way Users Log on" and then Un-check the Use Welcome screen. O.k your way out , and then Go to Start->Run and type
[red]Control userpasswords2[/red] . Check the last check box that Makes use of the Ctrl-Alt-Del combination. O.k yourself out again. and Log off. You should now be getting the normal Network prompt after you press Ctrl-Alt-Del.


Also you should Join the domain if there is one, and you haven't done so.

Thank you all for your help. I was mis-informed by the vendor. The XP product was a media version and therefore I thought I was going crazy when I was no longer able to add a computer to a domain.

P.s it was in German hence why I missed something so simple. lol
