My network infrastruture is 20 Windows 2000/98 clients with 2000 Server. The 2000 server is being use as a file/print server plus application hosting. We are buying a new server for the application, but I want to provide redundancy for the main domain controller. What is the best way to acheive this? My ideal solution is to use the new application server for backup to the domain controller. Any help appreciated, thank you.

I'm assuming you mean if you take the current DC offline people can still logon?
This is quite simple, when the nice new server comes along go to Run and type in dcpromo. Go through the steps by the wizard making sure that you tell it that this new server is another domain controller in a domain.

Just a couple more items in addition to DCPROMO. be sure your new server is also a Global Catalog server and depending on how long your primary server is down you may need to take into account the 5 FSMO roles that your first server handles.
