Domain Controlers - What to backup

We just impimented 2new Win2003 domain controlers (DC's). What is the genreal rule of thumb when backing up DC's. Should you back them up.

Ahh if you want to protect ative directory. Shadow copy components and C: drive

Without a backup of a DC you dont have a network to restore
