Does MSDE/SQL7 Forget who is logged-on after 20 mins of inactivity?

If you want to monitor who is logged on to MSDE/SQL7, is there another way apart from sysprocesses?

It looks like if a logged-on user does nothing for about 20 minutes, their MSDE/SQL7 "forgets" that they are there - until they do some activity - MSDE/SQL7 notices them again.

Is this correct?

Is there a way to maintain knowledge of the logged-on user, even if they have been "quiet" for the last 20-30 minutes?

Hmmm, in the Enterprise Manager (with sa privilages/logon) you can go to Management->Process Info->Current Activity, this lists all the processes with the user/database/spid/last command time, etc... You may have to right click, and select refresh to get the most current stats..

You can also use performance moniter to view the number of current connections, it's under SQL Server:General stats I believe...

This is off the top of my head, so bear with me here. I'm at home, i'm tired, and I still have trouble remembering the screens I've looked at a thousand times.

I believe the client software is disconnecting from the server rather than the server dropping the connection. What is the client software and how does it connect to SQL Server? Terry L. Broadbent

The client is MSDE on Win ME connecting to a "Server" which is SQL Server Developer on Win98. The objective is to programatically monitor who is logged on (as opposed to using Enterprise Manager tools).
