Hi there,

i would like to reinstall my PC OS.currently i am using WIN98.so now i would like to upgrade to either WIN2000 professional or WIN XP. so before i do so i need to ask yours advise on which OS is better.

thank you in advance.

8.0 isn't officially supported on WinXP - I'm running 8.5 (also unsupported) without trouble.

Biggest pain with XP is hardware support - check all your stuff is supported - especially modern modems - there are still a lot of buggy beta drivers out there. Andrew Baines

All I can say is that (from a coding point of view) I've had no serious probs running VB apps that generate Crystal reports on Win2000.

Never tried XP .. I'd tread carefully :)

You're too harsh! Once you turn off all the XP enhancements and sort out hardware support it's just like 2000.
I upgraded from Me so it's a great improvement. The laptop I use for demo is staying on Win 2000 for some time though!

OK, I give up - I bought a new DVD drive and it's not compatible with XP. I'm heading back to Win2K. Andrew Baines
