I need to upgrade from 9.1 to 10 across a variety of platforms. Does Backup Exec V10 remote agent work on an NT box?

You have to manually install the agent. yes it will backup/ maybe restore data, but not supported

I need to upgrade from Backup Exec server 9.1 to 10. I want to phase in the
upgrade, rather than doing the whole lot- 90 servers- at once. To do this
I need to have BE Remot agents 9.1 working with BE Server 10 for a small
while. Veritas support say that the license key for Backup Exec Remote agent
9.1 is not compatible with the license key for BE Server 10. Is there a way
around this?

License wont matter. It the remote agent software out on the 90 remotes. As long as you have a 10.x license installed it doesnt matter.

Q. Can Backup Exec 9.x agents or options be used with the Backup Exec 10.0 core software?

A. Backup Exec 9.x agent and option serial numbers will not work with Backup Exec 10.0. Customers will need to upgrade all agent and option serial numbers to the Backup Exec 10.0 version to work with the Backup Exec 10.0 core software.

Note: While Backup Exec 9.1 software components can interact with a Backup Exec 10.0 installation after the licensing requirement has been satisfied, it is recommended that they are upgraded to the same level as the Backup Exec core installation so that optimal performance is achieved.
