Does anyone know if there is a way to have one person's voicemail go into another person's mailbox? we have a definity g3si r9 and intuity audix v9.

Thanks,
Carol

PROB A STUPID QUESTION BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT THE MESSAGE TO GO TO SOMEONE ELSES M/BOX?

Yeahhhh, I'm with ya on that one. My boss was just asking to see what options were available to him. I couldn't find anything that stood out on the Definity or the Audix.

Not a stupid question.

Just go into the subscriber form in Audix and add the second ext in the "secondary extension" field. -CL

Carol,

There are a few ways.

The easiest...

In Intuity, change the auto attendant routing table "ch aut rout". You can enter the incoming extension, and which subscriber to re-direct to.

You could also do this with vectoring.

As far as the Secondary Extension solution is concerned, when I put the extension of the other persons mailbox in, it tells "Duplicate Extension - Already in Use". ANy thoughts?

BEST WAY IS THE CHANGE AUTO ATTEN ROUTE!!
POINTED OUT BY SJFORCUM.

If you're looking for options...

1) Change the zero out option on his voice mailbox to just about anything. Right now I have the zero out on my VM box go to an extension which forwards the caller to my pager. You can have it route to a cell phone, etc.

2) Direct into someone else's voice mailbox.

You can't enter the number in a secondary extension field if it's in use. You need to delete the original mailbox before you can add it as a secondary extension on another box. -CL

SJ:

I believe you are referring to the covering extension field in Audix when you say the "zero out" option. If that's the case, the caller will have to "interact" by pressing the zero. I would like it to be transparent to the caller as so far as not having to push extra keys. Unless there is something else I'm missing, I found out today that when you put a covering extension in, it doesn't follow any cover path from that point on. Meaning, that after "zero" is hit and it sends the call to the covering extension, it will just ring and ring if there is nobody there to answer. The call doesn't end up back at the originating stations voicemail nor does it follow the cover path of the covering extension.

I am looking into the routing tables schedule that someone mentioned earlier. If you have any further thoughts on this I will be more than grateful to try them. Just when you think something looks simple, it becomes a big whole ordeal! (SMILE)

Thanks again.... I can't tell you how much this website has helped me.

I've got the same request here, for the following circumstance.....att 123 goes out on the road, doesn't want/cant access the VM for whatever reason. So her asst on ext 456 gets all 123's vm and handles all the traffic.

Or, say someone goes on holiday, maternity leave etc........these are the cases I'm being asked to do the same thing.

If this is for a coverage type of setup, you might want to just put an indicator on the covering persons phone for the primarys voicemail and have the primary share thier password.

I know that you can set it up so that when there is voicemail at one station, you can program a button on another station to light up as well as.

Button is programed as
aut-msg-wt
then enter the ext of the station
you want the lamp for.

To make every un-answered call to extension X be routed to voice mailbox Y, use the auto attendant routing tables. This is changed in your AUDIX.

I was just trying to show you other options with the covering extension / zero out option.

For the holiday & maternity leave cases, use the auto attendant routing table in Audix. It will make all incoming calls goto whatever voice mailbox you tell it to.

For the first scenario, you might want to look into getting the multiple coverage path selection option turned on (if it isn't already). It's the proper (and easiest) way to handle this setup (User wants to specify when he has messages routed to an alternate mailbox).

Now you could use the auto attendant routing table for this purpose as well, but YOU will be the one making the change, and that can grow old for you and your subscriber.

If you have vectoring, you could also write a vector which will look at a hunt group and route incoming calls acordingly. You then setup the hunt group with att123 as the only member. When they're logged in, calls are routed to their desk & voice mail. When they're not logged in, calls are routed to ext. 456 & their voice mail.

Let me know if you have any questions on this stuff...the auto attendant routing table has been a godsend for me....

One of the nice things I've found with the Definity & Audix is you can pretty much do just about ANYTHING with them. It just depends on what features you have (VECTORING ROCKS!) and even then you can mickey mouse your way to a solution!
