Does anybody know how to force a reboot in Windows XP?

I tried several solutions usinf shutdown.exe. but the system will not restart, or close any active programs even if I ask it to.
Any solutions?

You might have to give us a few details on this problem to narrow it down a bit.
 
A reboot can be done with the Task Scheduler, and either the native ttshutdwn.exe, or shutdown.exe.

There are tons of freeware utilities for this, three favorites for reboot, and shutdown:

Do you have a "Multimedia" keyboard? If so, you would have a "sleep" button that can be programmed. I use my "sleep" all the time, so I programmed my "help" button for "reboot".
