Does 6-Bit/8-Bit make a difference in LCD Panels??

After looking at 2 great looking LCD Panels, I have discovered both are 6-Bit Colour Depth. This means vastly reduced amounts of colours are used. Is this noticable? I can't seem to find a decent DVI 17" Monitor that is quite cheap without a major flaw like this!

They also both have "dithering" to achieve 16.2 Million Colours. How does this help? Does it look like it has 8-Bit colours when this effect is used?

It would depend on what you were doing whether you would miss that extra depth.

I'd mainly be using it for Internet/Games/Word Documents.

But there may be good news pour moi! According to the Viewsonic Comparison Sheet, ALL of their monitors "Support 16.7 Million Colours":

Now since with dithering only 16.2 Million Colours are achieved...so am I to assume that this monitor is true 24-Bit Colour (8-Bits per colour and not 6-Bits)? If so, I think I've found the perfect monitor!

Unfortuantely, the other one I was looking at (Benq FP783) is definately 6-Bit with Dithering since it's on their website Specs (at least they're honest!).
