I've checked through the FAQs and searched the posts and found nothing, so I'll try a new post and see what happens.

I have a bunch of Lotus Amipro files that I need to convert to word 2000 ( It's a long story ).

Anyway, the only conversion stuff I have found strips out all of the frames and tables in the Amipro documents.

I have a TON of frames and tables in these documents....

So, before I wear my fingers out with CTRL-C and CTRL-V :) Is there any conversion utility that can handle these, or am I "SOL"?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

This may sound a little strange, and it may not solve the problem (I have not tried it--for obvious reasons), but I have used both WordPerfect and Word to convert documents in the past and have had better luck (greater success) converting them into WordPerfect documents--which may then convert better to Word. Don't know if it will help, but may be worth the trouble. Perhaps older versions of WordPerfect might convert them better as well. Who knows?

A small test would certainly be worthwhile--especially if it were successful! BlackburnKL

I agree with BlackburnKL. It has worked well for me as well.

How were you converting them?
1. In Amipro: File/Save As/Microsoft Word?
2. In Word: File/Open

etc.

Yes, I have tried saving the document both as a wordperfect file and a word file, but I get the same result. The plain text will convert just fine, but any tables or information that was inside a frame ( mostly CAD drawings or images that were pasted into the frame ) are missing. Even the frames themselves are gone.

Oh, and the headers / footers / page numbers are gone as well, but those are easy to replace.

Thanks for the suggestions though,

Robert

I was suggesting that you try having WordPerfect load the file in the AmiPro format and allow WordPerfect to convert it to a WordPerfect file (using its converter). If that works well--and it might not--you could try saving it as a WordPerfect document and letting Word convert that or saving it as a Word document from WordPerfect and let WordPerfect make that conversion as well. Oh, I see. I'll have to see if I can scrounge up WP to try that.

Thanks,

Robert
