Thanks in advance!!!

This is the VB6 forum.

A google search of "free icon editor" turned up
This looks to be better than any free editor I've used in the past.

There is one that ships with Visual Studio that I use on my laptop, which is at home. I'll bring it io tomorrow as I can't remember what the exe is called, and repost.

I've always used ArtIcons Pro

I'd suggest that The Gimp isn't really suited to this sort of thing. And neither is favicon.

The one in VS is called IMAGEDIT.EXE

Imagedit isn't part of Visual Studio. It's the example icon editor that originally shipped with VB4, and hasn't really been updated since it's debut. And it was pretty limited.

Visual Studio 6 has an icon editor built into the IDE, i.e it is part of MSDEV. One way to launch it is Insert/Resource/Icon/New. Having said that, it is only a little less primitive than the VB example ...

IconCool editor is a great tool, but not free. The $31.95 cost is a small price to pay for a decent editor.

If you want to create solid/ professional icons the pay route is the way to go. If you only need basic, get the point across icons, use the free tools.

I started working with a graphic designer for a few of my splash screens and misc. utilities. Believe me, I received more compliments on the icons/ graphics than I did on my hours of coding and whiz-bang subclassing (that I learned from strongm).
