Installing (new) CS 1000E 4.5 (CALA) software; how do you tell if you need to add patches? Looked at the NORTEL site for software support/patches etc and saw nothing that jumped out at me.

Thanks, getting my access updates as we speak. Another question as you seem to answer the most concerning the CS 1000 E. We have just started installing them upgrading from Meridian 1 and the Succession S and M. Have you by chance a sequence progression for the programming/installation? Thanks again for all the answers in the past and for in the future.

MIKE

Do you mean you want to upgrade multi PBXs in 1 CS1000E?

No, maybe I am just confusing myself. One of our switch techs saying he needs some kind of PEPs/Patches right from the git go. Normally only see this with Call Pilot which has a PEP CD with it for our installs. The CS 1000E is new to us and we are having to re-learn a lot of things in more of a computer programmer's way rather than our old phone guy mind set. We do new installs replace mainly Mitels a handful of Dimensions and earlier installed Meridian 1 Option 11 through 81C. We did a handful of the Succession but that was merely an Option 11 thru 61 with Signal Servers that were never used for anything

CS1000E/M/S/T/B are all using deplist to patch it easily. The only difference with older rls is that patches are all contains in a zip file and allow to load more than 100 patches.

SigServ is the main equipment for VoIP: For terminal proxy server, Virtual trunks, Gatekeeper.

The design of a CS1000E is formelly very different as traditionnal PBXs. Just ask precises questions about it or read all appropriates NTP relative to it.

Don't attempt to start with CS1000E without a good knowledge of it. You and users will be despite...

Which NORTEL course do think would be the most helpful with the Installation/Configuaration of the CS 1000 E. Already learning a bunch of stuff the hard way. The MRV does not seem to be all it is suppose to be and learning to treat the MG 1000T as a seperate switch from the MG 1000E. But that is what keeps our jobs interesting, as soon as you are too comfortable with it, they change nearly everything. HA

MIKE

That's a fact that this job is interesting... particularly when moving to VoIP. That's a new job !

I don't know about Nortel training courses as i get my new VoIP knowledge from my company internal training.

The easiest is to get a know-how on how to upgrade Meridian to CS1000M with IP phones only. That's the first step to do. You will get the basic VoIP practice. Secondly, inlcude the IP peer parts on it for networking 2 CS1000M. Next step might be to have a training on CS1000S, or CS1000E/T (CS1000T is formelly a CS1000S with equipments in cab 0 and no licences for sets)
