Here is my thought....

I have one router into my office with two wan connections each with it's own IP address. One is the primary and one is a fail over in the event the primary has an issue. How can I setup my dns to have my url point to both both IP addresses at the same time? What Im trying to do is have mail.domainname.com point to 111.111.111.111 and point to 222.222.222.222 at the same time so that if one wan connection goes down the outside users going to mail.domainname.com wont notice there is a problem.

ummm, you should normally find that the MX record is hosted by either your own ISP or the registrar and not yourself.

The problem with having two ip addresses pointing to a single reference name is that you can't control which IP address those users would try to connect to, so you may find that half the time the users are getting an error and don't connect anyway.

If you are desperate to have redundancy like that you would be better off using a service like dyndns to host your mail site and point it to the current live connection, if something happens to that link you simply change the details on dyndns to point to the new ip address.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

So what controls this? My PC always connects to the host farthest away in my network (even after running ipconfig/flushdns) and traceroute utilities always connect to the nearest.
