DNS to block sites

I want to use DNS to block sites.. i was in another post.. and someone was trying to say how to do it.. but i have done it.. but cant rememember.. now.. what would i exactally do

i want to just redirect the pages to 127.0.0.1 aka localhost

.. now i have alot of these pages in my cashed lookups.. but i dont want to disable fowarding.. because i dont have a large enough cash to get around lol.. thansk

Put the sites you don't want people to visit in a hosts file.
127.0.0.1 badsite1.com #don't want people to go here.
When they try and load the page, the machine will re-direct to 127.0.0.1. Good luck.

what if you have a dns server and 100+ clients...

is there a more efficient way to do it than add the hosts file to each pc?

you could make your dns server 'autoritative' for these zones by adding the zone to your dns server and creating host records to point to 127.0.0.1...
again, not very efficient if you have loads of diffenent sites...
anyone got any better ideas?? (better in terms of efficiency.. hosts file is simple and effective, but largescale???)

well.. i may setup squid proxy.. but i am SO DUMB when it comes to compiling anything expetally something that was made for linux/unix over to a windows server.

I will try some of the DNS suggestions frist, i will tell you how it works.
