Hi all,

I have an XP client which connects to a VPN. At the other end of the VPN are some W2k3 Domain Controller/DNS boxes.

The client can resolve pings and do nslookups fine but when I try and run ipconfig /registerdns I get a failure with "RPC server unavailable" and the guys monitoring the VPN don't see a thing from the client. The request isn't even getting out of the box.

I can see from technet that with a windows 2003 server you can register dns for a particular interface but this doesn't seem to work on XP.

Any idea please ?
Thank you, Steve Smith.
