I know its almost 2 questions in a row but am really confused.

Situation: I have a domain registered by UKreg but hosted on a dedicated server that I rent. On this dedicated server(win 2k running DNS Server) I can modify the DNS settings such as mx records etc..

I have recently moved this domain from ukreg to another registrar but kept the nameserver details. With this new registrar I also have the ability to change DNS settings on the domain.

If I wanted to further change the DNS settings on this domain, who would I do it through? Through the DNS server on the dedicated server.. or through the DNS control panel of my Registrar company? Does one have priority over the other or if I change one will it propagate over time to the other?

Many thanks in advance!

So you've moved the registrar from UKreg to another one but you are keeping the same name server record. So, in that case you would still do your DNS administration on the original server, if that is still the SOA for your domain.

The DNS control panel for your new registrar will only be for making changes to domains on their DNS servers. If you are not using their DNS servers then you won't be able to use this system.
