I am in the process of upgrading our domain from NT 4.0 to W2K and active directory.

I have successfully upgraded the PDC and am now trying to set up internal DNS so I can add additional DC's... I can't get the SRV records to show up in the domains zone in DNS therefore I can't promote a stand-alone W2K server to a domain controller without the proper DNS.

Also, when I reboot the machine and have the primary DNS server set to itself it takes forever to boot.

I am new to Active Directory and I'm not having much fun...

Have a DNS Server pointed to itself , in DNS Console create a new zone with the server domain name. e.g.: abc.com and have it dynamically updates.

I have done that...

In the system event log I am getter Event ID 5719 no domain controller found, remote procedure call failed to execute...

I know that I have successfully logged onto the domain. when I run SET I can see the correct domain controller specified. The login script is running, etc..
