DNS Problems

I have DNS installed on a 2003 server. There was a poweroutage and I have been having problems ever since. I was wondering if anyone knows of a DNS service provider that can host all my records for a LAN? I was also wondering if I should just go ahead and install DNS on a Linux box instead? Please advice.

First, you can't host your LAN DNS somewhere outside.

Second, if you have a Windows 2000/2003 domain environment, you need to keep your DNS running on your Windows 2000/2003 server to keep things running properly. Actually there are ways you can work around that, but they are more complicated than you probably want to deal with.

If I were you, I'd get some help working through the DNS problems by posting the error messages you are getting, the network problem symptoms, and the DNS-related events in your server's event log. I'm pretty confident that we will be able to help you set things right, even if there is corruption in your DNS database.

Sorry, but you're post doesn't make a lot of sense. Just wondering why you would want to bail out of the configuration you've got and not try and fix the problem. ShackDaddy is correct about posting any error messages and what you've done to try and fix the problem. Just a thought. Good luck.
