DNS Problems or perhaps over looking something

I'm currently trying to give access to a single computer behind a network to the web. The set up is as such:

SBC HomePortal 1000SW Modem -> NetGear RP614v2 -> Computer 5

I do also have a laptop wirelessly connected to the HomePortal Modem outside of the Netgear router.

Working from top to bottom, I set up a DDNS using DynDNS.com to make a DNS link to the computer 5. It is pointing to my IP address for the HomePortal Modem. From the modem the necessary ports mainly 80, 81 are forwarded to the Netgear router. From the netgear router the same ports are forwarded to the computer 5 that i'm trying to view from online.

Troubleshooting done so far:

I can access the port 80 obviously to Computer 5 from any other computers within the Netgear router, so the software picking up port 80 is working fine.

With the laptop within the modem's network can type in the router's ip (172.16.1.35) and is properly forwarded to Computer 5. So the netgear router and port forwarding is working properly. Netgear also has a built in feature to detect changes in IP and report them to DynDNS.

While trying to access the computer 5 from a computer outside the modem, it usually "times out" while using the direct IP of the modem, and it "server not found" while using DynDNS. The modem itself has a firewall. I've tried to forward the ports individually with TCP and UDP protocols, as well as setting the router to DMZ. None of those lets me into computer 5.

Finally the using the DynDNS address does not give access to computer 5, which was to be expected since it's just a pointer to the modem, which is not working.

Software on the modem and the router are up to date with HomePortal and Netgear upgrades.

Any questions or suggestions would be appreciated.

I forgot to add that the Modem and the Router are set to DHCP

Try plugging computer 5 straight into the HomePortal and manually give it the IP that the NetGear was using and see if you can connect. That will rule out whether trying to survive two layers of NAT is the issue. If it works, you know that's the problem, and you can either work on that thorny issue or you can add a small switch between the HomePortal and the NetGear (sort of a DMZ) and put Computer 5 there.
