hi,

we just established a VPN between 2 sites with 1 domain. each site has AD installed on a server acting as PDC. Up until a couple of days ago, we could browse the domain and be able to see all computers. then without warning this stopped! none of the DNS or any other settings have changed. Consequently whenever i make a change in AD like password change, when the user tries to login it says "no domain controller found that can make the change." The VPN is functioning normal and so is all WAN traffic. Any ideas? thanks.

Are any computers able to browse the network? And can you access computers by using their computer name?

no. and i just found out that if i login as the user with the changed password i'm able to change it and login at the this site's PDC. and now after a reboot i'm able to browse the network from the PDC also. but not from the client stations. but i can use the run command and use the computer names and i can access them, but i think that's because of the hosts file.

What is the IP schema on the WAN? It seems as if the domain has a problem at this level.

well both networks have the same subnet 255.255.255.0. our site is 192.168.x.x and they're 10.11.x.x. normal communication is fine and so are all the services running over the VPN. anyway don't our site's computers log into the domain at our end since we have AD/PDC running? if so why can they log in but can't update their password? thanks.
