I configured DNS on the new w2k server so all Internet IP addresses resolve through it. The forward lookup zone has the Internet provider listed and everything works - except when I try to access the company website. The server is called fs1.companyname.com. The forward lookup zone is called companyname.com. Now no one can access our website at What did I set up incorrectly? (Dial up access works fine, so I know I did something wrong with DNS.)

Set an (A) record in the DNS called points to the IP of the web page.

Anything that has the same domain and is OUTSIDE your LAN will need this modification.

This is why you should not setup your AD in the ROOT of your own domain name, but rather something like newyork.mydomain.com. It's all about DNS.

Thanks, that worked. Unfortunately, I didn't set up the server. A consultant did. I'm finding his mistakes as I learn more about how a w2k server works.
