Hello All, Its been a while since ive been here.

I have 3 sites that have DSL. Each site has its own AD 2000 Server running, domain name = test123 for all 3 sites. Will I be able to do DNS and configure Zones even thought they all have the same domain name. If not how can i go about adding child domains since I already have AD installed. Also if anyone has done this how was your experience over a VPN with DNS thru seperate firewalls.

I know this is a lot of junk to take in but any comment can help me

Thanks

As I understand it, you are saying that you set up 3 separate locations (all 3 sites were built independently, meaning you didn't create DC's from the first location and send them to the other locations to start their environment) all with the same domain name and now you want to 'join' them... If that's correct, all I can say is bummer!

you will need to reformat 2 of the domains and start from scratch... I've included a link to an article that starts to talk about domain design -- there is a TON of info here (and elsewhere), just poke around the other links and whitepapers from here...

To answer you second part, VPN over the DSL will work fine if you set up your structure properly (domain, sites, etc.) --

ok... can someone tell me how to post a frigin link... what gives? if I take the space out between .com and /technet, the link disappears...

/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/ad/windows2000/plan/bpaddsgn.asp

The link in your first post appeared and works just fine.

I'm Certifiable, not certified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

I see... it looks like it has something to do w/my personal firewall... I've never had this as an issue and can see other links (very strage) but when I disable the firewall and refresh the screen, voila... hmmmmm.
