Hi Folks,

I have a server that has two network interfaces. One was set up as 195.10.20.3 and the other as 195.10.20.10. However, we were getting exchange problems on the 195.10.20.3 so I disabled it and removed the entry from the DNS server (same server).

However, the IP address keeps reappearing in DNS. Then I unchecked the option on the interface to register in DNS. Still appears in DNS. So I unplugged the interface altogether. Still appears in DNS. Then I removed TCPIP from the interface. But it still appears in DNS after I remove it.

Can anyone explain this??

Initially I just disabled the network interface but following your suggestion, I went in to the Device Manager and the adapter was disabled in there too.

empty the cache on the dns server too....

and do a registry search on your ip address, you might find why it is sticking...

I have emtpied the cache on the dns server. I don't really know how to do the reistry search on the ip address.

What I was thinking about doing now - because it is causing constant problems - is to remove the DNS server role and then set it up again from scratch. When I set the server up initially, DNS was installed as part of the Active Directory Controller setup. Do I need to worry about anything if I do this? Is it likely to solve the problem??
