Hi Folks,
Basically, our domain controller has two network interfaces. One is 195.10.20.10 and the other was 195.10.20.3. However, there was an issue with emails when they got sent out on the .3 interface - they were not getting sent. So I disabled the .3 interface and set it to not register with DNS. However, it keeps reappearing in DNS. I have physically disconnected the interface from the network, removed the TCPIP protocol and disabled the interface - but the IP address keeps reappearing in DNS.
Then when a client attempts to connect to the domain controller/Exchange server, DNS resolves the address to the .3 IP address (which is disabled) and the client is having connection issues. How do I stop this IP address reappearing. It is nothing to do with DHCP as the scope of the DHCP server only starts at 195.10.20.10 - hence the .3 address is outside it's scope.
Our DNS zone is Active Directory integrated and it is set for secure updates only.
Any help on this would be appreciated as it's been going on for a while and I don't know what to do about it. I am toying with the idea of removing/resinstalling DNS but this server is also our domain controller and DNS was automatically installed as part of Active Directory. I'm afraid that if I try to install it manually, it won't work properly.
