Hi

I've confused myself (not difficult I Know)

I have my own webserver which hosts 20 or so domains I look after. Can some nice person just clarify the following for me:

Elsewhere not on my server is a domain server which points all calls to a specific IP address to my server?

Each of my domains has the nameserver of the primary domain of my windows 2003 websever ie ns1xxx.co.uk and ns2.xxx.co.uk

If this is the case can I use another dns server for one of my sites?

My problem is that I need spf setup on one domain and Fasthosts do not support text files in dns settings

Sorry if this is long winded but I'm strugling with this

cheers

Ian

DNS servers don't direct anything to your server, they just translate your name ( to one or mor IP addresses.

Whoever runs the DNS servers for your domain needs to set this up. If your hosting company doesn't do it, get somebody else. As long as you own your domain name, your DNS doesn't have to be handled by your hosting company or ISP.

So, yes, you can use a different DNS service for one of your domains.

Thanks a lot for that the fog begins to clear
