DNS - how to resolve internal host on outside zone

Our AD domain is completely internal, ie network.local. Our company domain.com is not managed by our internal DNS. How can I create a record on the internal DNS for an internal OWA host that is known by the company domain.com domain?

Just create a host record with the correct name and IP for the external server.

Where would I do this? If I try to add a host record, I have to add it inside one of the managed zones.
