One of my coworkers noted a strange anomaly with our DNS and / or DHCP yesterday, where it seems that old records are not going away. If you perform an NSLOOKUP again and again on the same DHCP issued IP, you get more than one machine name assigned to the IP.
This morning I was looking up some IP's that are showing up as high streaming users in my packet shaper box. See below. Any thoughts as to why? I am not real familiar with how the aging or automatice deleation works with DNS in Microsoft Server 2003. Any suggestions, help, or additional questions are appreciated.
