How do I set up DNS on my domain name and server so that directs to \\server\exchange. I thought I understood DNS, but I guess not enough. I know how to direct to an IP address using "A" records, but how do you direct to a specific directory such as \\server\exchange?

DNS doesn't do that. It's for host to IP and/or IP to host name resolution only.

are you trying to do this for internal access, external access, or both? i ran into the same problem but came across a few work around solutions that work. let me know & i'll help. :)

I just want our users to be able to use a friendly name when they are out of the office and need to check their mail. This is not for internal. This is for when they are out on the road or at home. Although internal might be useful....hmmm.

I just dont know how to make it work so if you type in mail.domain.com, OWA will come up for them. I have seen other companies do it. Just not sure how to direct it to my exchange directory behind the firewall.

Thanks

How about having the default.htm held in the default website point to \\server\exchange

Take a look at thread858-244330

I think this would do what you want
