I have a 2000 Advanced Server running DNS, active directory and DHCP. Here's the problem....I have a slow DNS connection...I can ping by name (ie. ping clien1) but it takes awile before I get a reply. When I run a netdiag utility my dns test passes but it also says "Cannot find a primary authoritive DNS server" any ideas would be helpful

In your Loacl area connections TCP/IP properties what do you have listed for your primary dns server.

I have it set to dynamic....but even if I put in the static address of the server it still takes forever. I've also noticed now that I can't replicate between servers....It tells me the RPC server is unavailable though the RPC service is running fine....It also says that this could be due to problems with dns lookups....so now everything is pointing back to bad dns probs

On your server open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all.
Post your results but modify Ip's and names for security.
