I have 2 questions:

1)What buttons (or feature code) do I press on an M7310 phone to find out what it's DN is?

2)the phones in one of our locations appear to not be able to dial internal extensions. what setting do i change to activate this? I picked up the handset, got DT and pressed 222 (front desk) but nothing happened. the display only said 222 TRANSFER at the bottom.

Feature*0 and push the next to bottom right side key, that will give you your DN or ext. number. As for not being able to dial internal extensions there could be more than one thing going on that would cause this. If you have no Norstar programming experience I would suggest you call a vendor as trying to tell you how to do this in an open forum could compromise certain security pass codes. Furthermore, going in to system programming with little or no experience, you could create more problems than you fix.

That would show me what a certain button is programmed to do.

Say I have a sales phone that has unique programming on it and I want to make some additional programming changes to it. I need to ID the extension (DN) before I can go into Terminals and Sets to program it (since its uniquely programmed I can't just program any extension and copy it to all). I need to know how to ID its DN (221, 222, 223 etc.)

I would normally dial the phone next to me and look at its caller ID to see what DN is calling but internal DN dialing is apparently not working at this location.

Thanks Tronic1. I have moderate Norstar programming experience and most of it is via a RAD or BCM Element Manager. This particular case I found myself at one of our locations on my way home from work. the tech was 3 days out and while troubleshooting and resolving another issue I discovered that they didnt have the ability to call internally. As far as creating more problems, we run regular backups on all of our sites via the RAD so if something gets messed up I would just restore it.

I rarely ever find myself at the site and this is the first time I've ever seen this internal dialing problem at any of our locations so I was just trying to get an idea as to what programming would activate or deactivate this feature if it were to ever come up again.

Thanks for your help on the DN Identification. Much appreciated

If this is a new problem, reboot and try again. If this is a long term problem you may have programming issues.

Sorry to go back to basics, but are you sure the phone is not prime line to pool? When you pickup the handset do you get an outside line automatically?
Before you pick up the handset, press the intercom key and see if display goes blank, and if you then get internal dialtone. Then try dialing the extension.

If it reads on the display Transfer then you are getting an outside line what you need to do is lift the handset hit release the press your intercom button and dial the ext. you want. To stop this change prime line to I/C.

I'm not sure how long its been an issue but the site said it just started yesterday morning. HAHA I dont think so... looking through their ticket history I see in the past that we set their line pool to Pool A since the location dials externally more than internally, so i bet thats when it started.

I had them try lifting the handset then releasing and pressing I/C and dialing internally and that worked so back to basics just paid off!!!

Thanks to everybody for their input. This was my first question posted on this forum and well I'm already convinced I came to the right place.
