DMax and Combo Problem

Hi
I have a problem with the an ID field that is my sequential ID number field (=DMAx("DOcketID", "docket")+1
and with a set of combo's where i choose my customers, from a different table, but saved in table where the docket is too.
What asstually happens is that my docketID goes to 0 when i choose a name in any of the 3 combos.
Can someone help?
