Distribution List and Calendar Permissions

I am trying to use a distribution list (universal) and give it author access to a resource calendar but I get an error saying that I am not allowed. I am using Exchange 2000 and Outlook 2000.

I am able to give individual users the author permission but no to a DL. Why?
