Do I necessarily need DTC to run only on SQL Server Machine? I thought DTC was only used to hook up a number of SQL Machines so they can pass similar database info to each other. My service shuts down after a couple of days and I can't get it started.

I looked in support.microsoft.com to get it started and understand the error, but with no luck. Should I ignore it for now, since it possible won't hurt user access to the databases.

i appreciate your input.

Mike

If you are not running across more than one server you do not need to have DTC running at all.

DTC is used to to control distibuted transactions. So if you aren't using them then I don't see why you should need the DTC.
