Distilling with size reduction?

Hi,
we are producing 200-page catalog which will be printed in to sizes: 8.5x11 and 5.5x8.5
All the design is done in 8.5x11 size

Will it be ok to distill it to half size?
I know that printing companies require resize everything inside inDesign but for us it is not possible because of the deadline.

Not really, the resizing is done as percentages, so it will be 50% of 8.5 and 11, so you can't really do that.

There is no easy way out of it I'm afraid. It's actually a less daunting task than it seems though. Just save a copy of it and make it the size you want it to be. Then just start moving things. I reckon you could do 200 pages in about 4 hours.
