I'm sure this is something abvious, but I have a formula which calculates an average (there are reasons why I can't just use the average function).

I have a summary field and a count field. In this particular example, the summary field equates to 3, and the count to 2. My formula divides one by the other, and returns the answer 2.0, when it should be 1.5. I am assuming it's being rounded up before the extra decimal place is being added. How do I fix this?

Are you sure that the exact values of the count and the summary are being displayed? A value of 1.58 may display as 2, yet still be used in calculations as its actual value.

I think so, the summary should just be adding 1 and 2, and the count is obviously an integer, so I don't think that's the problem. Was that what you meant?

Check the Number formatting on the formula field. Make sure that Decimals is set to '1.0' and Rounding is set to '0.1'.

That's it thank you! I had fiddled about with the decimals, but had just never noticed that there was a rounding option!
