I have a XP pro computer in the office acting funny. The display size keep changing by itself.

The computer display size was 800x600. There were no problems for about 2 months(the coumputer was purchased 2 months ago). User can see all what she want to see on the screen with different applications.

This morning, when user logged in, the size was 1280x1024. It is too small for her. Then I set bake to 800x600. But it only stayed for a couple minutes with normal screen displying. Then, she couldn't see whole screen, x on the right upper coner would shown up from some applications.

I also did system restore. The system settings restored back before yesterday. But only worked for a couple minutes, then changed by itself. Now user couldn't see whole screen again. I ran both anti-virus and auti-spware this morning. Nothing has been found.

What would make computer change display size? Any ideas?

Monitors remember resolution settings, which as good as it sounds has its drawbacks, if your desktop resolution is 800x600 then make sure all other applications that you can change the screen resolution in are set to 800x600 as well, games are a bugger for this my desktop resolution is 1280 x 1024 but some of my games can only be run at 1024 x 768 cos my graphics card cant handle the explosions on screen say,and it slows down gameplay so I have to set it to 1024x768 and the constant changing between different resolutions confuses it sometimes bless it :(

I have seen this on a computer at one of my clients because of a screen saver. As soon as the screen saver kicked in it would change the resolution, but didn't behave well enough to restore the original resolution when ended.
