I have just re-installed WIN95 on an old laptop. I want to change the Color Pallet to True Color. The only choices I have are monochrome and 16 color. Why and how can I add the proper choices?

Also, I am not able to change the Desktop area to 800*600. It is set at 640*480 and is disabled, so I can't change it. Why and how can I fix it so I can change it.

Thanks for your help in advance.

you dont have any drivers for your video card, for your computer function rite. Find out your video card and install drivers and you will have all colors.

Ok, having a brain fart here. How do I tell which video card I have to find the proper drivers?

Sometimes if you delete the video card out of the device manager and reboot the system will come up and tell you which video card you have... if not?

Try researching the laptop brand name and model to see what hardware came with it. sometimes trial and error is the only possibility unless you want to tear the laptop apart.

Good luck!!

I installed new driver to no evail. I removed video card out of the device manager and rebooted, it was detected and reset, again to no evail.

Are there any other suggestions. I have done all I can think of.

Please help.

And no drivers with the laptop? Usually you get the drivers on floppy or a CD.
You probably need to look into the BIOS settings and see if there is anything there you can do. Possibly with shared memory.
You might use debug and look at the B000 C000 chunks to see what chipset is indicated. Then download drivers from the manufacturer's site. Ed Fair

Go to >start>programs>accessories>system tools>system information>componets>display> copy the information...
Serach the the mfg's. website.
Go to the mfg's. website, find the drivers for the graphics card, download the drivers to the graphics card folder in programs. install the drivers...

That's it! visit:

I want to thank everyone for your suggestions and help. I decided to format again and load 98se. It works! :)
