Hi ...

Every now again my monitor display (horizontal/vertical) alignment keeps resetting itself(making the desktop smaller with a black border around it)

Did experience this before...it stayed ok for a few days then reverted back.Have the latest ati driver installed, there's nothing else loading up on startup apart from norton.

To correct it I'm having to goto Ati display properties /display/monitor/advanced...then on the "synchronization" untick h and v, then re-tick h and v.
Then apply and ok.
What a pain!

What could be causing this, must be a setting...?

It's a 17" Hansol crt monitor and Ati 9600 256mb graphics card.
Thanks.

I hate to say but this is quite common on the Radeon series graphics cards/drivers.
We have had people complaining with everything from the older 9500 upto the 9800XT, reporting this annoying behaviour.
Infact this is why both me and my friend Michael got rid of ours (9800Pro and XT)for Nvidia cards.
You could try uninstalling the ATI drivers with a proper removal tool and clean installing again, this is known to work in some circumstances.
Please, not the Nvidia versa's ATI debate again!!!! lol
I love ATI, they are quick but can be very annoying if you are unlucky enough to have issues unlike FX's which one the whole just run everything (even if at 2/5fsp less)than a Rad.

Start by questioning and soon you will be answering.
So please take but remember to return and give when you can.

Thats a big disappointment!

Oh well I suppose I could live in hope, that they will release a new driver that will correct this soon.

Thanks for the info.
