How do you display a blob field in a table. SQLPLUS does not support it. We have two tables with a blob field each. In one we can see the blob field using the java code but not in the other. the coulmns come as #?

Any clue, anyone.

Thanks in advance Regards,

I suppose there's something wrong with your code :) Regards, Dima

Dima,

thats what we thought but I learned something that like to share. If you add a blob filed to an existing table it wont work. I recreated the table with the blob filed and it worked. Seems like exisitng table strcuture cannot handle an added blob. creating a table with a blob establishes separate blocks for blob fileds. Regards,

Are you sure this wasn't due to inconsistent data (container handled cacheing or connecting to the wrong database)? I added blob to the table many times and had no problems. I use Forms.

I experience a strange behaviour when sequentially add/remove colum with the same name to the table: pl/sql code can not be compiled after adding a column with the same name as deleted before, but the situation is repaired by some dummy modifying of table column.
Can you provide your FULL Oracle version number along with the code? Regards, Dima

whatever the reason was - I recreated the table and it worked. may be there was something with adding the field.
the version is 8.1.7.0.0 Are you asking for the Java code. They have used the same code against another table and never had problem so Java code should be fine. Regards,
