I have 120gb SATA hard drive with 3 partitions and am running Windows XPpro sp1 - last week on startup message appears -"One of your disks needs checking" and runs check on drive E - does not find any problems - BUT this now occurs on every startup or re-boot. When I have had this before it normally only runs the once and then disappears. How can I correct the problem?

Had the same problem. What is it with XP and SATA drives???
I have 2 120Gb maxtors and last week, same thing happend to me.
I went into disk management and tried to defrag the disk that seemed to need the checking. I tried 'analyzing' it but it was reported that chkdsk is scheduled to run and therefore cannot be analyzed.
I just ran chkdsk and used to switch to auto fix any problems. (back up that drive first)
After I ran that, I analyzed the disk and it did not need defraging...so I rebooted.
Problem went away.
why this happend? No idea, would love to know
