Disconnected after pause when dialing

How can I increase the time allowed before the phone disconnects when dialing. Example, a user begins to dial a number but takes a 3 second pause before completing the number. The user gets "Disconnect" displayed

In the system config, go to the telephony tab. Select the telephony tab and go to Dial Delay Time (ms). It is default for the U.S. at 4000ms that = 4 seconds. You can increase by 1000 to gain more seconds if you need them.
