Hello

I have a laptop Compaq with WINXP SP2 loaded on it.
I use a dial-up connection for access to the Internet.
What is happening is that when I disconnect the power cord from laptop's plug I lose internet connection.
Even if the battery is 100% charged the same thing takes place.

Strange ah?
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thank you

There may be a setting that shutsdown the modem if you are on battery power, however, this would be a little strange.
It may be that when you unplug the power cord, you dislodge the cable to the modem or there is an internal problem.

Keep in mind that REPORTING 100% battery power doesn't necessarily mean the battery HAS 100%....

Don't always trust what windows tells you....

Disable power management features on the Modem.
You want to check the properties of the modem in Device Manager.

You want to check Control Panel, Power Options for any settings relative to running on battery.

It likely automaticly sets the modem off to save battery power.
