I took over as administrator for a company that is running one primary Exchange 2003 server and one Backup Exchange 2003 server at a DR site. The DR site is also where the company internet access originates from.
Data from the primary Exchange Server is replicated to the DR server using Double Take. Exchange services on the DR server are disabled as per Double Take specifications.
What I would like to do is use the DR server as a Front End server to process OWA and perhaps setup RPC over HTTP on it as well. Right now the primary Exchange server is providing OWA.
If I do this can I replicate the private message store to a different location on the DR server and simply unmount the DR store and mount the replicated store if the Primary server goes down?
Has anyopne else tried a setup anything like this? Do you think it's a good idea? Bad idea?
