We have a Exchange 5.5 server SP4 running in Win2Kadv server sp4. Symantec Mail Smtp Gateway over Win2K Adv Server. It was realised that the mails sent via this Exchange would not reach intended recepients on the internet. No NDRs were received. Incoming emails from internet were delivered normally. Internal mails were normally delivered. Switching over to a normal SMTP(at ISP end) gateway did not help matters. All mail delivery logs looked normal on exchange and gateway and no errors were generated. the problem was sorted out after a restart of Exchange server. Can this be explained

Where all the required services and connectors running before the reboot?

Has it done it since the reboot?

I run our 5.5 on an NT server that is set to reboot daily to clear up those pesky little problems.

Your host may be listed under DNS blacklist such as bl.spamcop.net, dnsbl. Email server using this list may be blocking your mail with their spam filter.

Akpolarbear...All the services were running before the reboot.

bmirza.....no messages stuck in outgoing message queue. The event viewer shows the messages were delivered to the Gateway

dennisbbb....Our IP was blacklisted once upon a time...that is rectified long ago. Moreover the receiving host generates a NDR to the Blacklisted server reasoning nonacceptance of the message.. and we didnt receive a single NDR!!!!!!
