disappearing cursor

We have a Dell GX 260 that has lost its cursor. A student changed the cursor to another shape, then changed it back. The cursor then disappeared. The Dell Logitech laser mouse still lights up, so I know it's still getting power.

I thought at first that somehow it might still work and tried in vain to click everywhere on the desktop in hopes to hit something. No luck.

I tried rebooting to no avail. Any ideas?
