Go to the FAQ section of this forum, look in the "Access How to" section for "How do I disable Shift Key at Startup?".
There are several ways to get to the FAQ section. One way is to click on the FAQ link at the top of the page. There is quite a bit of valueable information in the FAQ section.

HTH
RDH
Ricky Hicks
rdhicks@mindspring.com

Thank You very much.....I will give it a try this week!

PS....I already have a transparent button (mine makes a text box visible and requires a password) on my main screen to get behind the scenes as you suggested in the FAQ section. My problem has been that too many people know about holding the shift key down so it defeats the purpose of the transparent button.....

FYI...I also have a secondary backup plan. I have a copy of my db offline which is where I make my software updates. (tables are in separate db) so it's my intent to only disable the shift key in the on-line version of my software. Do you see any issues with my plan?
I only use the transparent buttons as a back door to allow me access to the db. I only know where this button is. It is very small in size, so you need to be exact with the click. If you feel that you don't need the back door to re-enable shift key, you could actually run the disable code from the debug window. But remember you also will be locked out. In my situation I am based out of Birmingham Alabama, and I may be at our facility in Muskogee Oklahoma or Salisbury North Carolina or any other location that exists, then I may need to fix or add something to the db, I don't think I would want to pull another copy of the db to make the changes. Though it could be done by have it on a disk, on my laptop, or I could pull a copy throught the WAN. This is just the way I handle it, but you do what ever you feel comfortable with.

Good Luck,
RDH
Ricky Hicks
rdhicks@mindspring.com

Think ya misunderstood. I have the transparent key where I intend to put the re-enable option as well. I just have an off-line version as well where I won't disable the shift key so I always have another option.......in case something goes wrong.

Anyway....thanks for the way to do what I want.
