Hi,

Does anyone know which keys i should edit in the registry to disable a computer's NIC? The system is running on Win98.

Thanks

if you want to try;
If a PCI Ethernet NIC...drill to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\PCI
or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\ISAPNP for ISA-Plug-and-Play adapters
or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\Root\Net for ISA-Non-Plug-and-Play adapters:
and find the NIC and export (a copy) of the KEY for safe keeping and delete the KEY, hence it won't get enumerated, but you may get other errors.

reference

you may just want to "Disable in this Hardware Profile" in Device Manager, which is in essence a direct link to these Reg Keys.
Boot into Safe Mode and do it if you have trouble disabling

more ref if necessary;
b/c it's a large article, search the page using your browser's "find" function from the menus and use keywords
