Is there a way in E2K to strip the tracking options off of emails coming in from the Internet?

Customers get a little upset when they get the "message was deleted without being read" message just because someone dealt with the issue through the preview pane.

I wouldn't mind turning the option off for all email if that is possible.

The client sets for read reciepts. Tell them to stop sending it with that :) Dan

That is a little difficult to do since we have over a million external customers. They want a return receipt, we don't necessary want them to have it.

Since you can deal with emails in the preview window of Outlook, you can read a message and the system thinks it's still unread. Then when you delete it, it sends them a nice little message telling them that their message was "deleted without being read". Then if we are lucky, the customer emails us back telling us that if that is the way we are going to treat their feedback, then they no longer want to be our customer.

There has to be a way to do this. At another employer we were using Netscape Enterprise Server. There we were able to strip certain fields out of a message, keeping this function from working.

I've been told that you can do the same with Exchange, but no one remembers where.

There is a util called the Outlook Survival Kit that will remove the Return Receipt requests.
I 'think' you can do this in Exchange. Global Settings, Internet Message Formats, Properties of Default.
