Disable wrap in text field

Hi,

I have a frustrating issue with CR 8. I've desinged a report that is "imported" into an application my company has purchased. This app. does only support CR 8 reports so we are locked to this version of CR.

In the application a user creates a searh filter which is applied to the report when generating it. The user then exports this report to MS Word, which doesn't work that well. For each listed record in the report I have 3 text object fields containing normal text and database text fields. When ever the contents of a text object field exceeds the page width CR adds a carriage return for the line break, which is ok when viewing the report in our app. But when exporting this to MS Word I don't want to have these carriage returns included in the export since they mess up the contents and formatting of the text fields.

Is it possible to have a export that doesn't include these carriage returns? How the report is shown in the app. is not important, the important thing is to get rid of the line breaks.

Business Objects doesn't support CR 8 any more, the time is 23:00 and I'm still at work ---> I'm in desperate need of help.

Redesign the report, or make the can grow format of the field conditional based on some parameter.

This is fairly common when opening a report, first prompt whether this is for preview or export, if export, use a can grow formula for this field.

Thanks a lot for the response. I will definitely be in use of this new knowledge.

But my problem remains still.

I want the text to be "floating" just as in working in MS Word. I mean, you don't press enter each time you reach the end of the page with in MS Word just to make the next word appear on the next line.

If I illustrate you the problem perhaps...
