Hello,

I have a company pc (windows xp professional) that runs on a network. The pc logs off automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity. I have to reenter my XP log in info and computer has to reinstall all my programs in te systray each time. This takes forever.

I have adminstrator rights. How can I disable this feature, or at least increase the time before it locks me out.

Thanks

I forgot to mention. People have talked about schreen savers causing this. I have gone to my control panel and display properties and I cannot find a tab for screen saver. So I can't disable what I cannot find. But as I said, I do have adminstrator rights on this pc.

It's probably a policy on your domain. I assume you are not the domain administrator? If not, you would need to visit with he/she about this issue.

If you are an administrator, you should be able to get the screen saver tab back.

Go to Start->Run and type gpedit.msc

The Group Policy Editor should open.

Then on the tree view to the left expand:
User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Display.
Then on the right pane, double click the entry: Screensaver.
Select: Not Configured. and o.k your way out.

Then Right Click on an empty part of your desktop select properties, and there should now be a ScreenSaver Tab. In there should be the logoff timeouts.

I second what erikhertzel posted as well as what vacunita posted if in fact you are a domain administrator, but I'm guessing your not.

Thanks everyone - I discovered I do not have network adminstrative prividelges. Anyway I can get around this?

It is a security policy on your domain. No person here is going to advise you to try adn get around it and also probably will not offer specific help on the issue. It's best to abide by your company's network policy and you would need to take this issue up to your supervisor and go from there.

Best regards.

Thank you all very much. I will take this up with my network administrator.
